Prayer of repentance
Father, you said in your word that “you are the one who searches the minds and hearts” of men (Rev. 2:23). Search my heart oh Lord. “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalms 139:23-24). I acknowledge my need for you. I acknowledge that apart from you I can do nothing. Father, I cry out to you, because my heart longs for more of you. There are things in my life that hinder my walk with you. I want to come out, of the outer court and into the secret place (Psalms 91). I have grown, cold and passive. My passion for you is not as it should be. I want to return to the fervency of my initial love for you (Revelation 2:4). Father forgive me. Cleanse me. “Restore to me the joy of your salvation” (Psalms 51:12). Purify my heart. Help me to see, what I have been unwilling to acknowledge. I repent of all stubbornness and rebellion. I repent of all self-righteousness and fear. I renounce the spirit of pride and humble myself before you, for you give grace to the humble (James 4:6). Draw me nearer to you Lord.
